Our product description has a handy link that brings you to our size guide page. Here you will find out how to take measurements and how they compare to our garment sizes. This is the best way to get the perfect fit and style for you.
Please see below where to find the Size Guide link in our product information box:
Our measurements are detailed on each product, and we also have a summary of the style and fit of each product to give you an idea of how it will look when you wear the garment.
Please see an example below of where to find all the information on our product descriptions:
Vintage-inspired clothing has a range of fits and cuts. Some items are designed to fit close to the body while others may have a traditional cut. To help you choose the right style for you, our Size and Fit Information Tab offers advice to help you make your purchase.
You’ll find this information in our Product Information box on each product, but for a little more detail on each phrase, please take a look at our guide below:
Fitted - Clothing that is described as fitted will closely follow the lines of your silhouette. These garments may have a subtle element of stretch for comfort. However, they will fit closely to your body shape. Measure close to or just below your measurements to get the correct fit.
Stretch fit - This type of fabric is designed to fit closely to your body shape. Garments are often made from jersey or similar stretchy fabrics to offer comfort for everyday wear. When selecting this fit, measure slightly below your normal body measurements to ensure you accommodate the stretch of the material.
True to size - This phrase means that garments are true to the measurements given in the Size Guide Tab.
Loose at the hip - Some garments are designed with some extra movement around the hip area. It may also be referred to as fit and flare style.
Taking measurements is the best way to get the perfect fit for your body shape. Take a look at the key body measurements to give you an idea of what size to select:
Bust - Take measurements around the fullest part of your bust. Ensure the tape is snug to your body but not too tight. To get more accurate measurements, wear a non-padded bra.
Waist - Measure your natural waistline while you are breathing normally. It will be a few centimetres above your belly button. It can often be identified by a natural crease when you bend if you’re unsure. Don’t measure too tightly; otherwise, the fitting will be uncomfortable.
Hip - Standing with your feet together, measure the fullest part of your hip and buttocks to get an accurate reading. This measurement is usually taken about 20 centimetres below your waistline.
Leg (Inseam) - Measure from the uppermost part of your inner thigh and take the tape to the bottom of your ankle.
Shoulder width - Place the tape across the back of your shoulders and measure from seam to seam.
Sleeve length - Measure from the top of your shoulder and take the tape down to your wrist where the natural seam falls.
We have a host of vintage-inspired and own-brand clothing available at Weekend Doll. It is essential to check out the sizing for each product as variations can occur.
